Question by Natalie Thornhill: How to Make a Birthday Cake?
Hi, It’s my Dads Birthday on April 19th and he’s going to be out all day so I even though i would make him a surprise birthday cake while he is out! Does anyone know a recipe for a birthday cake.
And can anyone give me any guidelines on generating the icing and creating the cake moist.

Easy YELLOW CAKE
Ingredients
two cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/two cup shortening
1 cup milk
3 1/two teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a single 9×13 inch pan. Mix with each other the flour, baking powder and salt set aside. (you can use two 8 or 9 inch pans if you want)
two.In a huge bowl, cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs one particular at a time, beating thoroughly right after each addition. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating just to combine. ultimately, stir in vanilla. Pour batter into the ready pan.
3.Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 40 to 45 minutes, or till a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.

BUTTER CREAM ICING
Total Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
•1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup one hundred% vegetable shortening
•6-7 cups powdered or confectioner’s sugar
•1/4 tsp. salt
•6-9 Tbsp. milk
•2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation:
In huge bowl, cream butter & shortening till very fluffy. Add part of the sugar and salt and beat again. Continue adding sugar and milk in little batches, alternately, beating till really fluffy. Stir in vanilla. Fill and frost cake. If you have leftover frosting, put it in between graham crackers for a fabulous soon after-school snack for your little ones (or you!).

This was a set of cakes I produced for my Aunt Ann and my cousin Heather’s birthday celebration! The major cake is chocolate with vanilla frosting and the cupcake cloud is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. If I did it once more, I would make the background of the lightning blots and the name cupcake blue as an alternative of chocolate. I enjoy the way the small sun came out though! He is sooo cute!
